As well, Laura, set on your fingertips as a rolling, tea ring can be used as a reminder to set an intention at the start of the tea ceremony.
Typically, tea pets are small clay or ceramic companion figurines placed on tea trays to accompany us as our tea brews during the tea ceremony. Boiled water and the first pour nourish them, bring calm and mindfulness, and make them symbols of good fortune.
Pure silver-lined tea cups are sometimes used because they are said to provide natural antibacterial properties. Pure silver is said to ‘soften’ the water and enhance delicate floral tea notes and aromas.
Placed in our tea cup, it serves yet another purpose ... or two.
